Jesse Marsch will become the new head coach of RB Leipzig from the next season.

The 47-year-old joins RB from FC Red Bull Salzburg on a two-year contract until June 2023. Marsch will replace Julian Nagelsmann, who is leaving to join FC Bayern München, on 1st July.

Marsch returns to Leipzig where he worked as an assistant coach in the 2018/19 season, helping the team to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal final. Before then, the American coached Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls between 2015 and 2018, picking up the Coach of the Year award in 2015.

The former professional player (349 MLS appearances, 2 USA caps) won the league and cup double with Salzburg last season and could repeat that feat this campaign. The Austrian champions are in the cup final and are currently eight points clear at the top of the Championship Group.
