Kremlin Cup: Kontaveit and Ekaterina in Finals

Estonian Anett Kontaveit and Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova have marched into the finals of the WTA Kremlin Cup.

Alexandrova got a walkover win versus Greece’s Maria Sakkari who opted for a walkover after Ekaterina had a 4-1 lead in the first set. The top three seeds didn’t make it into the Finals with Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and Spaniard Garbine Muguruza crashing out earlier in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Anett Kontaveit beat Marketa Vondrousova 6-3, 6-4 to seal the Finals spot. Anett outplayed Marketa both in service points and receiving points, having a 32-25 advantage in the former and a 35-29 lead in the latter. Anett also beat second-seeded Garbine in the Quarter-Finals.
