Hamilton was racially abused on social media platforms after he won the Grand Prix. F1 called the racist comments “unacceptable” and claimed that such abuses have no place in sports. Many of the comments have been removed from Instagram as a result of the reaction from governing bodies and athletes alike.

Hamilton was in an intense competition with his rival Verstappen and suffered a 10-second penalty as he crashed into his vehicle. Those who dislike Hamilton saw it as an opportunity to post hateful content against the Grand Prix Winner.
