UFC President Dana White shared with fans during a live social media broadcast that Islam Makhachev has vacated his lightweight title and is officially moving up to the welterweight division.
White stated that Makhachev will compete for the title against Jack Della Maddalena soon, with the date and venue to be announced later.
Recall that on May 11, Jack Della Maddalena beat Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 315, becoming the new welterweight champion. His record has 18 wins and 2 losses.
Makhachev last fought against Renato Moicano in January 2025 at UFC 311, where he won by submission in the first round. He has a record of 27 wins and 1 loss.
