On June 8, Dvalishvili competed in the main event at UFC 316 in Newark, USA, where he faced American Sean O’Malley. In this match, Merab secured a victory by submission in the third round, defending his UFC bantamweight title. His mixed martial arts record now stands at 20 wins and 4 losses, while O'Malley has 18 wins, 3 losses, and one bout declared a no contest.
