I entered the fight with Mesquita with a ruptured herniated disc. I didn’t know about it at that time. I felt pain, but I thought I had just caught a chill in my neck. As usual, we athletes think that there are no serious problems until we are literally folding in half. When I returned home after the fight, the pain not only remained but got worse and worse. And only in November I had an MRI, and it turned out that I needed urgent surgery.
To recall, Alekseeva lost by submission to Brazil’s Bia Mesquita on October 11 at UFC Fight Night 261 in Rio de Janeiro and suffered her third consecutive loss. On October 16, it became known that Irina was released from the American league. The Russian fighter has a total record of five wins and four losses.
