Former BMF belt holder Jorge Masvidal won a case against Fanmio, Inc. for unpaid fees for his boxing match against Nate Diaz.
Fanmio, the entertainment platform that organized the Masvidal vs. Diaz fight, did not pay Jorge his guaranteed fee of six million dollars, which would have increased to seven million if he won. Court documents state that Masvidal only received two advances: one million dollars and 150,000 dollars. The rest was supposed to be paid no later than three business days after the fight. On July 12, 2024, Masvidal contacted Fanmio owner Solomon Engel to request payment of the remaining guaranteed fee.
On Tuesday, Judge Beatrice Butchko Sanchez of the Miami District Court issued a final and arbitral ruling in favor of Masvidal for a total of $5,315,268.64 plus post-judgment interest at the legal rate. This sum includes $4,850,000 in damages, $62,787.97 in attorney fees and court costs, and $402,480.67 in pre-judgment interest.
The Masvidal vs. Diaz fight, held in July 2024, ended with Nate Diaz winning by majority decision.
Masvidal’s last MMA fight was in April 2023 against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287, which went the distance and ended in a unanimous decision loss. His record stands at 35 wins and 17 losses.
