Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has challenged current titleholder Dricus Du Plessis to a rematch, proposing to limit it to stand-up fighting only.
Recall that Strickland and Du Plessis are set to fight on February 9 at UFC 312 in Australia.
Strickland said in a video on the Full Violence account:
Listen Dutchman, I’m going to need you to be a --- man. I’m gonna need you to stand up, not go to your knees, and we’re gonna need to strike like men. I know you like to wrestle and you like to --- choke people out and do some gay ---, dude, but I’ll make a pact with you, you make a pact with me that we --- stand up like — men and we settle this --- like men.
It's worth noting that the previous matchup between Strickland and Du Plessis in January 2024 at UFC 297 ended with Du Plessis winning via split decision.
Dricus Du Plessis last stepped into the octagon in August 2024 at UFC 305, securing a victory over Israel Adesanya by submission in the fourth round. He has 22 wins and two losses to his name.
Strickland last fought in June 2024 at UFC 302, where he won against Brazilian Paulo Costa by split decision. Prior to that, he lost a title fight to Dricus Du Plessis by split decision. His record stands at 29 wins and six losses.
