Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, head of Iran's National Olympic Committee, said rock climber Elnaz Rekabi will not be punished for not wearing a hijab in competition.

"She has the full support of the National Olympic Committee of Iran," Vafa was quoted as saying by AP.

Earlier, there were reports that Rekabi's relatives couldn't contact her after she participated in an international tournament without a hijab in South Korea. She then showed up and was on her way to Tehran.

Earlier, several Iranian football players and football personalities demanded that the International Football Federation (FIFA) suspend Iran's national team from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar because of the state's cruelty to its citizens.
