The condition of hospitalized 2006 Olympic figure skating champion Roman Kostomarov has begun to improve, REN TV reports, citing a source familiar with the situation.

According to the source, the 46-year-old athlete's vital signs are now considered stable. It is noted that the figure skater has undergone several blood cleansing procedures. Now the efforts of doctors are aimed at preventing further deterioration of Kostomarov's condition.

The figure skater was hospitalized in serious condition on January 10. He was diagnosed with pneumonia. The athlete had to be put on a ventilator and underwent the procedure of artificial oxygenation ECMO.

Some time later, it was announced that Kostomarov had to have part of his leg and several fingers amputated due to gangrene.
