Record holder marathon runner Agnes Tirop found dead

In a tragic piece of news, Kenyan runner Agnes Tirop has been found dead at her home in Iten. Kenyan Police is investigating the issue and the details about the circumstances are yet to be released. Tirop died at the young age of 25 and participated in the Olympic 5,000m just a couple of months ago.

The Olympian missed out on a 5000m bronze medal just 0.75 seconds during the Olympics. Last month, Tirop created a world record in a German road race, finishing the 10km course in 30 minutes and one second. She has earlier won bronze medals in 5,000m during the 2017 and 2019 World Athletics Championships.

Athletics Kenya is this afternoon distraught to learn about the untimely death of World 10,000m bronze medallist Agnes Tirop. We are still working to unearth more details surrounding her demise. Kenya has lost a jewel who was one of the fastest-rising athletics giants on the international stage, thanks to her eye-catching performances on the track.
