Boisson Becomes Lowest-Ranked Quarterfinalist at Roland Garros in 40 Years

World's number 361, French tennis player Lois Boisson, beat American Jessica Pegula (world number 3) in the fourth round of the Roland Garros tournament -2025 with a score of 3:6, 6:4, 6:4.

Thus, the 22-year-old tennis player entered the history of Roland Garros as the lowest-ranked participant in the quarterfinals since 1985.

It should be noted that Lois Boison is also the first Roland Garros quarterfinalist to receive a wild card since 2002. The last time another Frenchwoman, Mary Pierce, achieved this was in 2002, when she lost to American Serena Williams in the 1/4 finals. (1:6, 1:6), who then became the winner of the tournament.

On the way to the quarterfinals, Lois Boisson defeated Elise Mertens (Belgium), Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine), Elsa Jacob (France) and Jessica Pegula (USA).
