Djokovic Explains Why He Decided to Continue His Career After Winning Gold at the 2024 Olympics

Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis player and 24-time Grand Slam champion, has explained why he chose to continue his career following his victory at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Novak Djokovic
Many people thought that after the Olympics, after winning the gold medal, I would end my career. However, I don’t play tennis just for the achievements. Obviously the achievements are a big part of my motivation, but I also play tennis because I really enjoy the competition. There are some other reasons that are private and subtle for me, but also business reasons. So, there are different reasons that make me continue competing.

Recall that in the Olympic tennis final, Novak Djokovic defeated Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2). This marked the first time in his career that the Serbian claimed Olympic gold.

Additionally, Novak Djokovic completed the Career Golden Slam – victories at all four Grand Slam tournaments and an Olympic singles title.

Throughout his professional career, Novak Djokovic has won 101 ATP Tour singles titles.
