US Open Update: Katerina Siniakova beats Anastasija Sevastova

Czechia’s Katerina Siniakova has begun her US Open campaign on a high note after beating Latvia’s Anastasija Savastova in a tense match-up as the scoreline read 7-6, 6-3 in her favor. This win is now going to set up a second-round match-up between fifty-three ranked Katerina and eighteenth-ranked Greece’s Maria Sakkari. Sakkari faces Katerina after beating Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-3.

In other match-ups, Hungary’s Dalma Galfi lost to Croatia’s Petra Martic 3-6, 2-6. China’s Shuai Zhang defeated USA’s Hailey Baptiste 6-3, 6-4. Australia’s Ajila Tomljanovic beat USA’s Katie Volynets 6-3, 6-1. 2016 US Open finalist Czechia’s Pliskova won against USA’s Caty Mcnally 6-3, 6-4. The thirty-two match game-day in the women’s leg is going to be rounded off by a clash between Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic and the sixth-seeded Canadian star Bianca Andreescu.
