WBBL: Hurricanes to face Stars after another loss

02:25 AM UTC: Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars

Hobart Hurricanes will face the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League. The Hurricanes come into the game after losing to a red-hot Heat, meanwhile, for the Stars, Kim Garth-led bowling attack eked out a win versus Thunder.

Hurricanes have issues with both bowling and batting

Hobart scored 132/8 in the last game, thanks to a 42-ball 47 runs innings by opener Ruth Johnston. Richa Ghosh made 22 runs but once again took a lot of deliveries. However, Molly Strano’s late burst of 33 runs off 24 balls and a Vlamenick 6-ball 11 runs innings meant that Hurricanes go in with momentum.

However, once again, the Brisbane Heat openers took the game away from them and the opening pair of Georgia Redmayne and Grace Harris made 52 runs for the first wicket in 43 balls. After the wicket of Redmayne, Georgia Voll fell for a duck as Carey claimed both wickets. Then Mikayla Hinley and Harris gave no chance to the Hurricanes bowling and seized the win with 9 balls to go.

The Hurricanes are now the second-worst team record-wise, losing three of the four completed games. The team is yet to put in a collective effort and they need to sort out their issues before it is all said and done.
