Women's AfroBasket: Feisty Angola sets up match versus Mali

Angola opened up a 28-7 lead against Cape Verde and didn’t look back after that beating Cape Verde 82-65. Veteran guard Italee Lucas took the charge and clapped home 17 points while handing over a game-high 7 assists on just two turnovers. For Cape Verde, Jade Leitao dropped a game-high 20 points on 7/14 shooting while Joseana Vaz came up big with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, both efforts not enough for a win.

Angola is going to square off against Mali in the Quarterfinals now. In other games, Cote d’Ivoire beat Guinea 81-50 rallying around a 23 points performance by Djefarima Diawara. Mozambique beat Kenya 72-50 courtesy of 21 points and 7 assists outburst by Ingvild Mucauro. Meanwhile, Egypt beat Tunisia 85-36 behind 12 points and 16 rebounds performance by Hagar Amer.
