Women’s Test: Australian women crawl back before rain interrupts again

Australian women staged a decent comeback on the second day of the Pink-ball test before rain interrupted proceedings yet again. India scored 276/5 after beginning at 132/1 today courtesy of an impressive 127 runs knock by opening batter Smriti Mandhana. The spin attack led the efforts with Gardner first getting Smriti caught and then Molineux grabbing the wicket of Punam Raut, who walked without being given out, having edged one to the keeper.

Then Yastika Bhatia fell to a probing Perry who had her chip one to Mooney. Mithali Raj fell to a superb bit of fielding by young Annabel Sutherland who ran her out with a rifle direct throw. Raut and Mitali made 36 and 30 respectively while Bhatia made 19 runs. Deepti Sharma is not out at 12 while Taniya Bhatia is yet to open her account before a heavy thunderstorm gobbled up the day. The weather is predicted to be clear for the next two days and 108 overs for each day have been allotted.
