WTA Finals: Kontaveit pips Barbora Krejcikova

Anett Kontaveit defeated Barbora Krejcikova in the opening match of the WTA Finals. The Estonian star defeated Czechia’s Krejcikova 6-3, 6-4 in another stellar performance this season.

Anett had a strong service game and outscored Barbora 43-33 in terms of service points. She had an 18-16 receiving point edge and overall won 61 points compared to 41 by Krejcikova. Anett’s win percentage on the first serve read 85% and she also won 2/3 breakpoints to seal the deal.

Kontaveit has now won 11 WTA games in a row, winning the Kremlin Cup, Transylvania Open title, and is well on her way to pile on the streak. Can Anett continue her hot run and win this group?

At 01:30 AM UTC, Garbine Muguruza and Karolina Pliskova will meet in another game. This is a round-robin format, meaning each of the players in the group plays each other once.
