Ben Hazel vs. Haupai Puha: Will it be a Worthwhile Match?

Another exciting match to follow in round 1 of WDF Championship 2022 is between Ben Hazel and Haupai Puha, taking place on 2nd April 2022 at the Lakeside Country Club (Frimley Green).

Ben Hazel – Would be A Tough Night

Hazel won the Vilnius Open in May 2018, defeating Lukasz Waclawski in the final. He reached the quarter-finals of both the Swedish and Belfry Opens in 2019.

He qualified for the 2020 BDO World Darts Championship as a Playoff Qualifier in October 2019, defeating Jess Noguera and Allan Edwards to clinch his spot in the competition. Before losing to Chris Landman, he defeated Joe Chaney in the preliminary round and Gary Robson in the last 32.

Haupai Puha – Having Favorable Odds

As the number two rated player in the DPNZ rankings, Puha qualified for two World Series of Darts tournaments in Australia and New Zealand in 2018. He would fall in the first round against Kyle Anderson in Auckland and Rob Cross in Melbourne in both events. He made his debut PDC major appearance, with Cody Harris, in the 2019 World Cup of Darts in Hamburg. They defeated Lithuania and South Africa on their way to the quarter-finals when they were defeated by Japan.

Puha has also qualified for all three World Series events in 2019 in Australia and New Zealand. He was eliminated in the first round of both the 2019 Brisbane Darts Masters and the 2019 Melbourne Darts Masters by Raymond van Barneveld, while he was eliminated in the first round of the 2019 New Zealand Darts Masters by Gary Anderson.
