Young Lions vs Brunei DPMM Prediction: We expect a great start from the visitors

Young Lions will kick off their campaign against Brunei DPMM at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday. The hosts have been pretty decent in the preseason games but must prove themselves against the visitors here. 

Young Lions

The Young Lions, who finished at the bottom of the log for three consecutive seasons, will be keen to turn their fortunes around. Young Lions were ranked as the worst team in the division after going the whole season with just a win. Young Lions have signed some decent players, but we are not convinced the players can lead them to a top-four finish. 

Brunei DPMM

The visitors are determined to prove themselves in this competition after their terrible performance last campaign. Brunei DPMM wrapped up their SPL campaign in the 7th spot, which happened to be their worst ever since 2017. Brunei DPMM had the fourth-best defensive record, conceding forty-three times. They entered this competition in 2019, and their best record here was a runner-up in 2018.

Over their previous twenty meetings, Brunei DPMM have won twelve and drawn eight games. The home side have been uninspiring over the years, but they have made provision for the new season. We are not totally convinced by their signings, and we think they’ll struggle again in this campaign. At the same time, there has been a massive shakeup at Brunei DPMM. They have signed a new coach, and we expect the Portuguese to at least secure them a top-four finish. 

Since we are unfamiliar with their new style of play and ability, we will base our judgment on their previous record. Brunei DPMM are yet to taste defeat against the hosts in twenty outings, so we expect the visitors to win before the break for 1.88.

We expect to see more than a goal before the break for 1.89.

We expect the Brunei DPMM to win in both halves for 1.94.
