One of the matches in the first leg of the Champions League group stage will be between Brugge and German side Bayer. The Germans are predictably, but hardly logically, the favorites for the upcoming game. The Germans are stronger on paper, but the Belgians have had good playing practice on the European stage in recent years.

Brugge has already won one trophy this season, the Belgian Super Cup against Gent (1:0). Brugge is third in the Belgian league table with six points after seven games, five points behind Antwerp.
