Switzerland vs Germany Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds │24 JUNE, 2024

At Frankfurt am Main's Frankfurt Arena on Sunday, Switzerland takes on Germany in a UEFA European Championship group-stage encounter. The German team has already guaranteed a spot in the Round of 16, and the Swiss team hopes to join them.

Germany has already guaranteed their spot in their home tournament's knockout stages. The hosts defeated Hungary 2-0 to extend their lead to six points after two games, having thrashed Scotland 5-1. Julian Nagelsmann could be tempted to do something different here with that in mind. However, winning Group A provides a more advantageous route through the competition, so avoiding defeat will remain a primary priority.

Only in 2012 did Germany become unbeaten in all three group stages of a European Championship. Then, with a late victory from Lars Bender against Denmark, Germany defeated Portugal and Denmark to secure the perfect record.

Germany takes on a Swiss team that wants to win the group and stay undefeated. After putting on an outstanding performance to defeat Hungary 3-1 in their initial game, Murat Yakin's team overcame a deficit to salvage a draw against Scotland in their most recent encounter. The Swiss could still qualify for the round of 16 if they win; if they lose, only a regrettable scenario would cause them to be eliminated from the competition. In the last two competitions, Switzerland has advanced to the European Championship knockout stages. At Euro 2020, they defeated France in the round of sixteen.

Granit Xhaka and Toni Kroos have been two of the most impressive players for their teams thus far. They have been leading their national teams' midfields with their great club play. This is probably where this contest will be won or lost.

After losing 16 of the previous 18, Switzerland is undefeated in their last three encounters with Germany, which have yielded an average of 5.3 goals per game. All they would need to do to go to the next round of the European Cup 2024 is to win this time around. Should they lose in Frankfurt, their advancement would also be guaranteed if Scotland fails to defeat Hungary.

Goal differential will probably work in Scotland's favour if they win and Switzerland loses, and if Die Nati pull off an upset against their German hosts, they could even take first place in Group A. A less spectacular draw with Scotland followed an initial victory over Hungary, and Xherdan Shaqiri's incredible equalizer was one of the few brilliant moments in an otherwise tumultuous match that helped secure such a strong position.

Although Switzerland has only lost once in their last 12 European Championship games, that was against Italy three years ago, they have drawn more than any other team since the beginning of Euro 2016. Interestingly, though, the Swiss have emerged victorious from their last eight tournament appearances without dropping their last group match, indicating that Murat Yakin's team may be able to begin preparing for a run at this year's final 16.

Germany defeated Hungary 2-0 in Stuttgart on Wednesday night to solidify their ranking in the top two spots in Group A, ensuring a secure trip to the knockout stages. The Euro 2024 hosts overcame their opening-night thumping of Scotland thanks to goals in each half from captain Ilkay Gundogan and striker Jamal Musiala. This made them the first team to reach the round of 16.

Now that they have avoided losing to Switzerland, they will have won their group, putting head coach Julian Nagelsmann in a good position should he decide to rotate his superb 26-man team. Nagelsmann's reign began erratically when he took over for Hansi Flick, but his squad is currently enjoying a six-game winning streak, five of which have come from victories, and they are winning over commentators with their dedication and focus.

Along with a few more seasoned Die Mannschaft players, Musiala and Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen have drawn attention. As favourites to win the Henri Delaunay trophy in Berlin, they will be expected to make it three wins in a row. The only goalless tie that occurred during Germany's 53 prior international matches against Switzerland was in April 1968, and the current team appears capable of continuing that trend this weekend.

The odd thing is that these countries haven't faced each other in a major competition since West Germany's 5-0 group-stage victory over Switzerland at the 1966 World Cup.

Germany is in excellent form and may easily advance as group champions, even in defeat. The Swiss should undoubtedly join them even if they don't end up with that kind of scoreline this time around.
