He did well in minor-ranking PTC tournaments, with his best finish being the final of Event 6, when he lost 3–4 to Dominic Dale despite Dale needing games of snooker in the deciding. After qualifying for the PTC Grand Finals, Gould reached his first career final in March 2011, when he was defeated 0–4 by Shaun Murphy. Gould qualified for the World Championship for the second time, defeating Marco Fu 10–8 in a rematch of the previous year's first-round match. Judd Trump, the reigning China Open winner, and eventual World Championship runner-up, then overcame Gould.
