Arantxa Rus vs. Shelby Rogers Predictions: Rogers All Set to Make It to The Next Round

Shelby Rogers, the 31st seed, will face Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus in the first round of the 2022 US Open on Monday, August 29.

Arantxa Rus

Arantxa Rus, 31, of the Netherlands, is the current World No. 95 and came in New York with a score of 30-24.

The left-handed talent has primarily focused her energies on the lower-tier ITF and Challenger circuits, where she has had modest success. She also won a handful of ITF tournaments in Spain and Italy, as well as several doubles wins.

Rus also finished second in the Valencia Challenger.

Her most recent WTA competition was the Poland Open, when she lost in the first round to Sara Errani. Arantxa has not advanced past the first round of the US Open since 2011.

Shelby Rogers

Shelby Rogers, world No. 31, has had a terrific practise run en route to Flushing Meadows.

To begin with, she reached the final of the WTA 500 San Jose (losing to Daria Kasatkina), but she knocked off a number of great names along the way, including Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari, Amanda Anisimova, and Veronika Kudermetova.

It was also her first WTA tour singles final since the Rio Open in 2016.

Rogers followed that with a third-round loss to Aryna Sabalenka in Cincinnati, where she put up a great three-set battle.

Shelby has had her moments this season, reaching the Libema Open semifinals and making repeated third-round performances in Miami and Indian Wells.
