Holger Rune advanced to the semifinals after defeating Stan Wawrinka, Hubert Hurkacz, Andrey Rublev, and Carlos Alcaraz. The youngster struck first in the first set, taking a break in the third game to lead 2-1. He increased his advantage to 3-1 after a service hold.
Rune held the lead till the finish of the set and served it out with easily to seal it. In the second set, the young Dane got off to a fast start, breaking his opponent's serve twice to lead 4-0.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic began his title defense by advancing to the semifinals by defeating Maxime Cressy, Karen Khachanov, and Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.
