Casper Ruud, world number four, will be seeking for a quarterfinal spot when he faces Italian and 23rd-ranked Lorenzo Musetti in the third round of the 2022 Paris Masters on Thursday, November 3.

Musetti, a semifinals in Sofia and Florence before winning the championship in Napoli, came into this event in good form and on a surface that has traditionally not been a favourite.
Musetti opened the competition with a shocking first-round victory, creaming the favorite Marin Cilic. Taking that confidence a step further, Nikoloz Basilashvili was discovered to be no match for Musetti as well.
The Italian defeated Basilashvili 6-4, 6-2 in a match that lasted only one hour and 11 minutes to go to the third round in Paris for the first time in his career.
He won the opening set with a vital break of serve in the ninth game before sprinting to a 3-0 lead in the second with back-to-back breaks. While Basilashvili did get one break back, Musetti replied with a third to secure the victory.
Musetti is the second favorite against Ruud, but he has the talent to upset the world number four's prospects.

Richard Gasquet had been in late-season form of his own, but Ruud ended that streak in only an hour and 24 minutes.
Ruud needed to save a set-point in the second set after racing out to a fast start in the match, but he came through 6-1, 7-6 (7) to go to the third round. This victory comes after a first-round bye and his own troubles with form.
Ruud entered this tournament with a 1-3 record on the ATP circuit, having lost in the first round of the US Open in September.
Can he repeat his performance at the Paris Masters last season, where he overcame Alexander Bublik and Marcos Giron to reach the final eight?
