David Goffin

The Masters in China is the Belgian's first tournament since the US Open. Goffen has four wins in Shanghai, over Australian Duckworth, Italian Musetti, American Chiron and German Zverev. The match against Zverev lasted an hour and 57 minutes and was won 6:4, 7:5 by Goffin. David had three aces with two double faults, won 65% of points on first serve and 54% on second serve.

In this pairing we are on the side of the favorite, i.e. Taylor Fritz. The American is having a strong season, the best in his career and is in great shape. Don't forget that Fritz has not yet qualified for the World Tour Finals, so he is fully motivated. Goffen surprised with his performance in Shanghai, especially with his win over Alexander Zverev, but we doubt that the Belgian has a real chance against Fritz. Taylor has ignored the tough top-20 ranked Holger Rune in the last round, so we wouldn't be surprised if Taylor also ignores David Goffin in the quarterfinals.
