Afridi Renews Call For Separation Of Roles
Former Pakistan captain and crowd favourite Shahid Afridi has once again pressed Mohsin Naqvi to step aside from one of his two high-profile roles — as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman or as Interior Minister.

Speaking after Pakistan’s Asia Cup campaign, where the team finished runners-up behind arch-rivals India, Afridi said the dual responsibility was damaging both institutions.
My request or advice to Naqvi Saheb is that these are two very important posts, and they are big jobs that need time. PCB is totally different from the Interior Ministry, so it must be kept separate.
“Pakistan Cricket Needs Special Attention”
Afridi insisted that Pakistan cricket cannot afford divided leadership.
It would be a big decision and should be taken as soon as possible. Pakistan cricket needs special attention and time.
The former allrounder criticised the quality of Naqvi’s current advisers, arguing that the PCB needs people with genuine cricketing knowledge.
Naqvi cannot rely totally on advisers. These advisers are taking him nowhere and he himself says that he doesn’t know much about cricket. He needs to appoint good and competent advisers who know about the game.
Behind-The-Scenes Pressure
Afridi has consistently spoken out against Naqvi’s dual positions, though his demands have yet to be acted upon. According to sources, Afridi even raised the matter with Pakistan’s powerful Army Chief, urging him to advise Naqvi to focus on just one role.
Would you like me to make this more hard-hitting (edgy, opinion-heavy like a fiery op-ed) or keep it balanced news-style with Afridi’s quotes doing most of the heavy lifting?
