Dilpreet Singh, the star of the final with two goals, said
Winning the Asia Cup was really important for us. It’s been 8 years since India won the trophy, so it was time to bring it home. But the biggest target was qualifying for the World Cup by winning this event, so we are really happy that we achieved that.

Dream Start and Relentless Finish

India struck inside the opening 30 seconds through Sukhjeet Singh, who latched on to skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s precise assist to smash home a tomahawk. The early strike set the tone, though Jugraj Singh later saw his penalty stroke saved.
Dilpreet doubled the lead in the 28th minute, breaking through with composure. He returned in the third quarter to make it 3-0 before Amit Rohidas converted a penalty corner in the 50th minute to put the contest beyond reach. Korea managed a consolation through Son Dain, but India’s grip on the game was never in doubt.

Confidence Restored

The triumph capped off a fine campaign for India, who had thrashed China 7-0 in the Super 4s to storm into the final. For Dilpreet, the title was about more than just silverware.

Dilpreet said
The hard work we have been putting in was visible in this tournament. We showed hunger in every game. The Asia Cup is special, but securing the World Cup berth gives us confidence to aim even higher.

Malaysia Clinch Bronze
Earlier, Malaysia ensured a podium finish, defeating China 4-1 in the third-place match. Goals from Norsyafiq Sumantri, Akhimullah (2) and Syed Cholan sealed the bronze, with China managing just one in reply.

World Cup Beckons
India’s win made them the eighth team confirmed for the 2026 World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands. They join the hosts alongside Australia, Spain, Argentina, Germany, and New Zealand.
