Oval Invincibles batter Jordan Cox lit up The Hundred with a blistering unbeaten 86 off just 29 balls, powering his side to a record total of 226 and an emphatic 83-run victory over Welsh Fire at The Oval on Saturday.
Cox hammered 10 sixes and three boundaries, making Welsh Fire’s bowling attack look helpless. He was well-supported by Will Jacks (38), Tawanda Muyeye (33), and Sam Curran (34) as the Invincibles set a new benchmark, surpassing Manchester Originals’ 208-5 from three years ago.

In reply, Welsh Fire crumbled under pressure. Despite a fighting 50 off 28 balls from Jonny Bairstow, they were bundled out for 143.

Trent Rockets edge Southern Brave in Nottingham thriller
In the second men’s clash of the day, Tom Moores struck 55 on his home ground, guiding Trent Rockets to a four-wicket win over Southern Brave at Trent Bridge. Moores, who joined as an emergency wicketkeeper only last week, built a 76-run stand with Tom Banton (49) to chase down Brave’s 141 with four balls to spare.
Southern Brave’s innings was highlighted by Leus du Plooy’s 55 off 34 balls, but they struggled to put up a competitive score. An injury to Adam Hose, who dislocated his ankle, caused a brief delay before the Rockets stormed back with intent.
Women’s Hundred: Southern Brave, Oval Invincibles dominate
At just 17, Tilly Corteen-Coleman produced a match-winning spell of 4-13, helping Southern Brave bowl out Trent Rockets for 106. Pace spearhead Lauren Bell also made history, becoming the first woman to take 50 wickets in The Hundred.
Despite losing early wickets, Maia Bouchier (42) and Sophie Devine (41) held their nerve*, steering Brave to a six-wicket win and extending their unbeaten run.
Capsey and Kapp shine as Invincibles crush Welsh Fire
Over at The Oval, Alice Capsey (55 off 34) and Marizanne Kapp (47 not out & 2-24) starred in Oval Invincibles’ 39-run win against Welsh Fire. Capsey provided firepower with the bat and later took 2-16 with the ball. Sophia Smale chipped in with 3-13 as Welsh Fire were bowled out for just 111 in pursuit of 151
Invincibles skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill endured a first-ball duck on her birthday, but her side delivered a complete performance to claim their second victory of the season.
