India wrapped up the ODI series in emphatic style in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, routing South Africa by nine wickets thanks to a maiden hundred from Yashasvi Jaiswal and commanding half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The hosts chased down 270 with 61 balls to spare, sealing a 2–1 victory after losing the Test series earlier in the month.

Kuldeep and Prasidh Trigger Collapse After de Kock’s Lone Resistance

After opting to bowl, India’s attack set the tone. Quinton de Kock struck a brilliant 106 off 89 balls, his seventh ODI century against India, guiding South Africa to a promising 168/2 with support from Temba Bavuma (48) and Matthew Breetzke (24). But the innings unravelled quickly.

Prasidh Krishna, expensive early on, stormed back in his second spell—removing Breetzke, Aiden Markram, and eventually de Kock with a full, searing delivery. Kuldeep Yadav then took command, spinning out Dewald Brevis and Marco Jansen in the space of three balls and finishing with 4–41.

From 168/2, South Africa crumbled to 270 all out in 47.5 overs.

Bavuma admitted after the match
We didn't have enough runs… should’ve been smarter, saved wickets. Kudos to India’s batters who showed their quality.

Indian Openers Make a Mockery of the Chase

Chasing 271, India’s top order was ruthless. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma put on a commanding 155-run opening stand, mixing calm accumulation with bursts of strokeplay.

Rohit was the early aggressor, racing to a 54-ball fifty and showcasing vintage pull shots and drives. His 75 off 73—laced with seven fours and three sixes, earned him the Player of the Match award.

He eventually fell sweeping Keshav Maharaj, but the chase was already on rails. Jaiswal Arrives in Style; Becomes Youngest Indian With Tons in All Formats.

Jaiswal played the perfect foil early on, building his innings with restraint before accelerating beautifully. He reached his first ODI century off 111 balls, finishing with 116 off 121* (10 fours, 1 six).

In the process, he became the youngest Indian to score a century in all three international formats, and only the sixth Indian overall to achieve the feat.

Kohli Lights Up Vizag With a No-Look Six and a Statement Knock

Virat Kohli, who has dominated the series, walked in with purpose and didn’t waste a delivery settling in. He unfurled drives, slices, and pulls with effortless timing, bringing up his half-century off just 40 balls. His no-look six off Corbin Bosch was the shot of the day, drawing a roar from the packed crowd.

Kohli finished unbeaten on 65 off 45, ending the series with 301 runs, including two centuries.

Kohli, reflecting on his form
Playing freely has been the most satisfying… I can bat long and according to the situation.

Jaiswal and Kohli’s 116-run partnership sealed India’s nine-wicket victory with plenty left in the tank.

Captain Rahul Praises India’s Composure Under Pressure

Indian skipper K.L. Rahul credited the team’s consistency and adaptability: “The surface was good; we picked wickets in bunches. The most pleasing thing is how we handled pressure… Plans have been consistent, and doing the same thing worked out today.”

The win also marked India’s 10th consecutive ODI series victory at home, reinforcing their dominance in the format.
