Left-arm spinners Taijul Islam and Hasan Murad shared eight wickets on the final day to propel Bangladesh to a comprehensive 217-run win over Ireland in Mirpur, completing a 2-0 clean sweep in the Test series on Sunday.

Ireland, resuming at 176 for 6, stretched the contest into the final session thanks to Curtis Campher’s marathon vigil, but ultimately folded for 291, well short of the towering 509-run target.
Campher Stands Tall, But Bangladesh Turn the Screw
Campher, unbeaten on 34 overnight, produced one of the grittiest knocks of the series—an unbroken 71 off 259 balls. His partnership with Gavin Hoey soaked up more than 31 overs, frustrating Bangladesh until Murad removed Hoey and No. 11 Matthew Humphreys in consecutive balls to end the match.
Murad finished with 4 for 44, Taijul with 4 for 104.
Mushfiqur Marks 100th Test with a Century
While Bangladesh’s spinners decided the final day, the Test was shaped by the side’s commanding first-innings effort anchored by centuries from Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das, setting up a total of 476.
I enjoyed every second of it… It’s one of my responsibilities to guide youngsters, and I try my level best.
His unbeaten 53 in the second innings capped a memorable match.
Taijul Enters Elite Club of Spinners
Taijul reached a landmark achievement, becoming only the sixth left-arm spinner in Test history to claim 250 wickets, surpassing Shakib Al Hasan’s 246 to become Bangladesh’s all-time leading Test wicket-taker.
The way Murad and Taijul bowled really impressed… We had a good plan to bat long, we executed it, and I hope we continue like this.
Play on Day Three had briefly paused due to an earthquake.
Ireland Show Fight, but Bangladesh Too Strong
Alongside Campher, Harry Tector’s fluent 50 and Jordan Neill’s counterattacking strokes offered glimpses of resistance. But repeated lapses, Doheny surviving three chances before falling lbw to Taijul, proved costly.
We were outplayed… Their top order got big runs in both games. Our guys got starts but couldn’t go big. We’ll go back, work hard, and learn.
Bangladesh had earlier declared at 297 for 4, with fifties from Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, and Mominul Haque (87).
