South Africa's Dewald Brevis Ruled Out of Pakistan ODI Series with Shoulder Injury

South Africa suffered a blow ahead of their three-match ODI series against Pakistan, as young batting sensation Dewald Brevis has been ruled out due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain. The 21-year-old sustained the injury during the third T20I at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.

The ODI series begins on Tuesday at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, with all three matches to be played at the same venue.

Dewald Brevis has been ruled out of the three-match One-Day International series against Pakistan due to a low-grade shoulder muscle strain. He sustained the injury during the third T20 International at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday. Brevis will undergo rehabilitation with the Proteas Men’s medical team in Pakistan in preparation for the upcoming Test tour of India. His replacement for the ODI series will be announced in due course.

Mixed T20i Form Before The Setback

Brevis endured a modest run in the T20I series, scoring 9, 25, and 21 across the three matches for a total of 55 runs. Despite flashes of promise, he struggled to convert his starts into big scores.
South Africa started the T20I leg on a high, winning the opener by 55 runs, but Pakistan bounced back strongly to take the next two games and seal the series 2-1.

Pakistan’s Comeback Seals The Series

In the second T20I, South Africa were bowled out for a mere 110 in 19.2 overs, and Pakistan chased it down comfortably in 13.1 overs with nine wickets in hand.
The series decider saw South Africa set a target of 140, but their bowlers couldn’t defend it as Pakistan wrapped up the chase with four wickets and an over to spare.
