The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to file an official protest with the International Cricket Council after captain Salman Agha was left out of the promotional poster released for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, sources told Telecom Asia Sport (www.telecomasia.net).

The poster, unveiled on Thursday to announce the start of ticket sales from December 11, features five captains, India’s Suryakumar Yadav, Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka, Australia’s Mitchell Marsh, England’s Harry Brook, and South Africa’s Aiden Markram. Pakistan’s skipper, however, is noticeably absent.
“Matter of Concern” for Pakistan
Sources in the PCB described the omission as both “surprising” and “concerning.”
The release of the poster is a matter of concern because it shows bias against Pakistan by not including our captain Salman’s picture. The Board is going to register its protest with the ICC.
This is not the first time Salman has been left out of high-profile promotional material. In August, broadcasters Sony Pictures excluded him from their Asia Cup 2025 poster and promo, only reversing course after a strong protest from the PCB.
Previous Disputes Add Friction
Insiders say the Asia Cup protest carried more weight because PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was heading the Asian Cricket Council at the time.
During the Asia Cup, PCB’s protest worked because the Board had leverage. In this case, the ICC may not pay as much attention.
Former Player: “No Surprise At All”
A former Pakistan player, speaking anonymously, took an even stronger line. “What is the surprise in this?” he said. “India is ruling the ICC, and they do not want any Pakistani player in their promotional events, posters, or promos.”
