With the composure of champions and the aura of a global club, Al Ahly clinched their 16th Egyptian Super Cup – and their fifth title in a row – after defeating arch-rivals Zamalek 2-0 on Sunday at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium.

The latest chapter of Egyptian football’s most storied derby lived up to its emotion-filled legacy, with Al Ahly once again proving their pedigree on the big stage.
Al Ahly’s goals came from Ashraf Bencharki in the 44th minute and Marwan Attia in the 71st, sealing a result that aligned with the pre-match predictions. Backed by a passionate traveling fanbase, the Red Devils looked composed, structured, and clinical when it mattered most.
Torp Savors First Trophy With Al Ahly
Al Ahly’s Danish head coach Jess Thorup expressed his delight at lifting the first trophy of his tenure.
I thank Al Ahly’s loyal fans for their great support from beginning to end. The players understood my ideas and executed them from the first minute. I know the value of winning against our main rival. I hope it is the beginning of many titles.
Thorup praised his side’s tactical discipline and mental strength, emphasising that the performance reflects the team’s readiness for the competitions ahead.
Zamalek Left to Regroup After Setback
Signs of disappointment were visible on Zamalek coach Ahmed Abdel Raouf’s face, but he remained respectful in defeat.
We hoped to make our supporters happy. But injuries and forced changes affected our rhythm. The late first-half goal complicated the match, though the team fought to stay competitive.
He stressed that the Super Cup is only one chapter of the season and that the team remains committed to improvement in league and cup campaigns.
Man of the Match
Ahmed El-Sayed “Zizo” of Al Ahly was awarded Man of the Match for his influential midfield performance and control of tempo.
Third-Place Playoff
At Al Nahyan Stadium, Ceramica Cleopatra defeated Pyramids 2-1 to secure third place in the tournament.
