The task that lies ahead for Kiran Carlson is challenging this season. His side did not come into the top three of the One-Day cup in 2023. Also, his team was also having a terrible time this season in the T20 blast 2024. They would be hoping for a better start so as to get back on the track in the One-Dayer's cup of 2024. More importantly, with the performance they have shown at their home surface, they haven't matched up to what other teams have turned out so far.

The huge amounts of runs that Sam Northeast scores in a prolific way set a brilliant base at the top of the order for this ideally equipped opening force. That has to contribute in support from the solid middle order with the likes of skipper Kiran Carlson, experienced Colin Ingram, and talented duo Billy Root and Alex Hortan. These all form a solid middle order to try and post competitive totals with the bat.

In fact, Glamorgan holds many great names in its bowling arsenal, such as Tim van der Gugten and Daniel Douthwaite. Andy Gorvin, meanwhile, in the recent T20 Blast matches, is in an exquisite form and has been their other form player.

On paper, this team seems to be in the strong zone, but it yet has to see if they could come off from their current weaknesses in the T20 Blast and make a new path in the One-Day Cup 2024.

Gloucestershire heads into the new season with real momentum behind them, courtesy of fine performances in the 2024 T20 Blast. Their One-Day Cup run was good last season too, where they lost their semi-final in the same season of being bowled out for literally 125 at Grace Road. Beginning their new campaign with an away fixture against Sussex, skipper James Bracey and his team will be hoping to build powerfully on last season's run into the quarter-finals of the T20 Blast. The team has a line up of form bowlers who all have proven their worth, but of course, each tournament will carry different demands on strategies of bowling.

Critical members of the team like Oliver Price, Paul van Meekeran, and D Payne did the job last year, while some like Josh Shaw and Tom Smith professed their quality in Blast and would play major roles in the game. Gloucestershire will step into the game with good confidence as they have maintained a good record against Glamorgan. Their batting order seems to be in high spirits, with the likes of Miles Hammond, James Bracey, and Harry Tector expected to dominate the front end.

The middle order will be brimming with seasoned players in team captain Jack Taylor, Beau Webster, and Cameron Bancroft, with last year's performers Oliver Price and Graeme van Buuren providing the perfect complement. Each department is well-stocked, with the first contest in this season of the One-Day Cup 2024 shaping up into a perfect battle for Gloucestershire against their host, well-acquainted with form and talent.

Judging from the form, a couple of these key players are in at the moment. Glamorgan do seem to be going into this match on the back foot. Well, there is always that chance that, with their experienced squad, they might just put themselves together and push back hard, but Gloucestershire should have enough in them to come out winners in this one. Our prediction is for a Gloucestershire win.
