Sri Lanka will face Ireland in match number 8(Group A, Round 1) of the T20 world cup. This match will take place at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates at 6 PM local time.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka started their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note against Namibia. Sri Lanka cruised to an easy 7 wickets win chasing down 97 with 6.3 overs to spare. Maheesh Theekshana was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant bowling performance. Theekshana picked 3 wickets at an economy of 6.20. Lahiru Kumara and Wanindu Hasaranga picked 2 wickets each while conceding very few runs. Sri Lankan batters were able to chase down the target with ease. Sri Lanka are the favorites in this group to qualify for Super 12, however they need to win this match in order to solidify their chances.
Ireland
Ireland also started their tournament on a winning note against Netherlands. Ireland chased a target of 107 with 29 balls to spare. Curtis Campher was awarded Player of the Match’ for his brilliant bowling performance. Campher picked 4 wickets while giving away only 26 runs off his 4 overs. Mark Aidar was also brilliant with the ball as he picked 3 wickets for only 9 runs. The Irish batsmen found it easy to chase down a small total of 107. Ireland are a strong side in this group and they have a good chance of qualifying for the next round. They will be looking to win this match in order to qualify for the Super 12 stage.
Expert Betting Tips
The T20 World Cup thus far has been a bowler’s tournament as the scores have been low. This one can be a little different as both the teams have good batting lineups. A win for Sri Lanka will be a safe bet, however Ireland will be a tough side to beat.
