Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds │6 November, 2023

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are going head to head in the 38th game of the ICC World Cup 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, India on 6th November. Both the teams have had terrible runs in the tournament so far. Who will win this game?

Bangladesh's performance in this World Cup has been deeply disappointing. Although they started with a victory against Afghanistan, they have since lost six consecutive matches and were the first team to be eliminated from the semifinal race.

The primary reason for their poor run can be attributed to the underwhelming performance of their batsmen. The absence of Tamim Iqbal, a stalwart in the top order, has been sorely felt. Litton Das, considered the face of a new Bangladesh team, has been inconsistent in this tournament.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, their top run-scorer in 2023, has struggled to replicate his domestic success on the global stage. Tanzid Hasan has failed to capitalize on the opportunities granted by the selectors. As a result, there's significant pressure on seasoned players like Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim to carry the batting load.

The bowling unit has faced similar challenges. Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed have struggled both upfront and at the death, while Shakib Al Hasan has managed just seven wickets in six matches. Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz are the only bowlers who have made a noticeable impact.

Sri Lanka is experiencing a challenging World Cup campaign, mirroring their opponents. With only two victories in seven matches, their chances of reaching the semifinals are dwindling, becoming a mere mathematical possibility. Sri Lanka's primary aim now is to secure a position in the top eight to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

From the outset, Sri Lanka's campaign has been marred by injuries. Notably, Wanindu Hasaranga, their premier spinner, was sidelined for the entire tournament. Additionally, players like Dasun Shanaka, Matheesha Pathirana, and Lahiru Kumara had to withdraw at different stages, further weakening the squad.

The selectors attempted to bolster the team with the additions of Angelo Mathews, Chamika Karunaratne, and Dushmantha Chameera, but their efforts have yet to yield significant results. In a particularly disheartening turn of events, Sri Lanka suffered a devastating 302-run loss to India in their recent match, marking one of the heaviest defeats in terms of runs for the team.

However, there are some bright spots amid the gloom. Dilshan Madushanka's outstanding performance against India saw him claim his first-ever ODI five-wicket haul, making him the tournament's leading wicket-taker. Pathum Nissanka and Sadeera Samarawickrama have consistently contributed with the bat in recent weeks.

To return to the path of victory, Sri Lanka must put in significant effort and make improvements across the board.

Pathum Nissanka, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis (c, wk), Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dushan Hemantha, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka

In this tournament, teams batting first have triumphed in three out of four matches held on this ground. Therefore, it's likely that the toss-winning captain will choose to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This venue has consistently provided an excellent batting surface and has already witnessed several high-scoring encounters in this tournament. Expect a similar scenario in this match, with a substantial run total anticipated from the team batting first, aiming for at least 300 runs for a comfortable position.

The pitch exhibits minimal grass cover, making it challenging for seamers to take wickets. Spinners, on the other hand, should find grip and turn, particularly in the latter part of the match.

Weather conditions are expected to be clear with no clouds, and the temperature will remain below 30 degrees Celsius. Both teams have had a disappointing run in this tournament and are eager for a turnaround. We believe that Sri Lanka holds an advantage due to its stronger batting lineup and the better form of a couple of its bowlers.

Consider placing your bet on Sri Lanka to secure the victory.
