After a harrowing season, resulting in them finishing last with only two victories and the lowest net run rate in the league, Superchargers will be out to right the wrongs and do so much better. Captain Harry Brook is among those leading the batting unit, having top-scored last season with an expressive 238 runs from 7 innings at a strike rate of 197. In top form, just the other day, he stroked a fluent century against the West Indies, and so Brook will be an important player in the rank.

But in his squad, Matthew Short, who comes with an imperious T20 record and heaps of experience in the game, especially in Australia, has been a great addition. To date, domestically speaking, Short has a record of soliciting more than 2,500 runs and taking 35 wickets with his off-spin in T20 cricket. He will bring a lot of weight into the Superchargers lineup.

But the real fillip will come with the return of England Test captain Ben Stokes to The Hundred after a three-year absence. He leads the side, armed with outstanding all-round skills, and the fact that he is available for four games is another significant boost for Northern Superchargers.

Last year's top wicket-takers, Reece Topley and Adil Rashid have carried on this season and given more bite to the Superchargers' attack.

The Rockets had a forgetful outing last season and found themselves in the bottom half of the points table, which resulted in a playoff miss. They will look to better their three wins of the last season.

Even though Alex Hales retired from international cricket, he still remains one of the top T20 batsmen in the world. The best of his explosive gameplay may have gone, but he isn't doing that badly, as has been evident from his good performance in the Lanka Premier League recently.

Another player to watch out for is Joe Root, who made the statements, turned out to be the second-most scorer for his team in the previous season, also having the capability to click in both forms of the game, namely limited overs and Test. Also, Root can offer a real option with the ball as an off-spinner.

Rashid Khan is the most potent attacking weapon for Afghanistan in the bowling line-up. He spins magic with his leg-spin and is the one who can win matches single-handedly by his bowling.

The frontline bowlers in the fast-bowling department are expected to be Sam Cook and Luke Wood.

Trent Rockets did not do much the last year with a lot of reasons but have gotten a well rounded team this time. The Northern Superchargers will also be endowed with a strong batting line-up. This includes Harry Brook and Nicholas Pooran, shining members with the capability to light up and change the course of the game on their will. It will be hard to predict how this one will go, as on paper, both teams seem quite evenly kitted out. However, we feel the Superchargers just take your pick in what promises to be a high-scoring game. Our prediction for winning this game is for the Northern Superchargers.
