Sri Lanka began their batting innings smoothly. There were also hardly any boundaries coming in initially. But the openers kept the scoreboard ticking along, however, and after the first couple of overs, they were at 17/0. The early collapse began with Pathum Nissanka getting out to try and hit a wide delivery into the third over, followed soon after by Kusal Perera losing his wicket to a brilliant ball from Shamar Joseph. Kusal Mendis seemed to be going to have a rollicking time out but before he could reach 20. The real turn however came from the partnership between Kamindu Mendis and skipper Charith Asalanka, who were at 58/3, chalking up 82 runs for the fourth wicket in just 53 balls. Both players notched up well-deserved half-centuries, though Asalanka got there in 29 balls, 7 less than Mendis. This partnership helped Sri Lanka reach 179 runs, which seemed just a little short of par on an otherwise very good batting pitch.

Though Sri Lanka's bowlers were slow in getting going, with Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Asitha Fernando, and Maheesh Theekshana giving away a lot of runs, the bowlers seemed to lose the pressure after the powerplay and could not stop the opposition. By the 13th over, the visitors were racing into 107 without losing any wicket, thus sealing the win decisively.

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(w), Kusal Perera, Kamindu Mendis, Charith Asalanka(c), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Maheesh Theekshana, Matheesha Pathirana, Asitha Fernando.

West Indies openers Brandon King and Evin Lewis launched a strong attack, both scoring important half-centuries to guide their team towards the target. They went aggressively after the hosts' bowlers right from the word go, especially in the over which counted towards the powerplay, wherein they were able to score 74 runs. The West Indies continued their momentum despite some resistance put up by the Sri Lankan bowlers in the middle overs to ultimately win the game with five wickets in hand in the final over. West Indies bowlers did well earlier in the game to restrict Sri Lankan top order on a pitch that was totally in favor of the home side. Wellington made some impressive bowling by Romario Shepherd and Shamar Joseph, as Joseph gave away only 27 runs in four overs. The spinners in their line and length were tight enough for Sri Lankan batsmen to not regain the initial fragile grip that was created by them in the match.

Evin Lewis, Brandon King, Shai Hope(w), Roston Chase, Romario Shepherd, Rovman Powell(c), Sherfane Rutherford, Shamar Springer, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph.

West Indies used smart cricketing strategies and played well under the conditions of the field of play to take the lead over the home side, which eventually proved to be what decided the result. West Indies are likely to carry on winning by their good batting and bowling against the Sri Lanka team. If Sri Lankan spinners do not play a highly impactful game, the West Indies team would look to win the game and take the trophy back home. By our analysis, this match seems to end in the favor of the West Indies.
