Fans may not have to bid farewell to MS Dhoni just yet. If all goes well, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon could be seen in action for another year in the Indian Premier League. According to sources close to Dhoni, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter has indicated to his inner circle that he is most likely to feature in the 2026 IPL as well, provided his body holds up and he continues to feel physically fit.

At 44, Dhoni has already defied age and expectations by maintaining a strong presence in the league, both as a leader and a finisher. Over the last few seasons, fans have eagerly speculated about his retirement, but Dhoni has kept his cards close to his chest, often stressing that his decision will always depend on his fitness and contribution to the team.

Should he take the field in IPL 2026, it will add yet another chapter to an illustrious career that has inspired generations. For CSK fans, the prospect of seeing “Thala” in the yellow jersey once again is nothing short of an emotional delight.

Sources have indicated Telecom Asia Sport (www.telecomasia.net) that if Dhoni decides to play in the 2026 edition of IPL, it will almost certainly be his final season as a professional cricketer. The former India captain, who has been the face of the Chennai Super Kings since the tournament’s inception in 2008, is believed to have already started preparing himself both physically and mentally for what could be his farewell year.

Insiders say that Dhoni has been extremely disciplined in his routine, sticking to his regular gym sessions and ensuring that he doesn’t miss out on cricket-related workouts. Despite having stepped away from international cricket in 2020, his dedication to training remains unwavering. Even at this age, Dhoni continues to put in the hard yards, with a clear focus on keeping himself fit for the demands of another IPL season.

A source close to Dhoni, suggesting that the 2026 season might be the swansong fans have been waiting for, confirmed
He is going to play for one more year for sure before hanging his boots.

If this indeed turns out to be his last IPL, the build-up will carry enormous sentimental value, not just for the CSK faithful but for cricket fans across the globe. The thought of seeing Dhoni marshal his troops in the iconic yellow jersey one final time already has fans buzzing with anticipation.
