Arsenal Salvaged a 2-2 Draw Against Bayern Munich in the First Leg of the UCL Quarterfinals

Arsenal secured a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich when Leandro Trossard scored a late equalizer to deny Harry Kane a triumphant return to north London in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday. Find additional sports-related news by clicking here.

Trossard scored a goal with a low shot in the 76th minute to prevent Bayern from securing another big win at the Emirates Stadium. Kane had put the German club ahead in the first half with a penalty kick.

Arsenal had the majority of possession in the match against the six-time Champions League winners, but Bayern posed a constant threat on the counterattack. In the 90th minute, Kingsley Coman hit a close-range shot against the post. However, Bukayo Saka, who was in contact with Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer during stoppage time, appealed for a controversial penalty before the referee blew the final whistle, only to have it turned down.

The big talking point before the game was Kane's return to England, but he made a wonderful appearance after converting from the penalty spot.

"It wasn't an easy game," Kane said. "Arsenal are a really good team. They're top of the Premier League right now so we had to dig deep at times but it's a good result and hopefully we can make the difference at home.

Bayern, without any fans at the Emirates Stadium due to a UEFA ban, will welcome Arsenal to the Allianz Arena for the second leg on Wednesday next week, with the tie in the balance.
