Cameroonian Footballer Gael Ondoua Wears Boots With Russian Flag at World Cup 2022

Gael Ondoua, a Cameroonian football player recently sparked some controversy on social media by posting a picture with the Russian flag on his boots. The picture was taken at the World Cup in Qatar 2022. 

Gael Ondoua is a midfielder who was born in Cameroon but holds dual Russian nationality. He is currently playing for the German Hannover 96, but previously spend several seasons in CSKA Moscow and Anzhi Makhachkala. 

Ondoua was called up to the Cameroon squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, and made one substitute appearance in the team's final group game against Switzerland.

Now Gael Ondoua is sure to be a standout player at the Qatar 2022 World Cup. However, his patriotism might turn against him since Russia was banned from Qatar 2022 earlier this year when FIFA imposed sanctions.

Ondoua and his Cameroon teammate, Moumi Ngamaleu, are one of just two players competing at the World Cup in Qatar who represent Russian club teams. 

Despite losing their opening game against Switzerland, Ondoua and the rest of the Cameroonian team will be looking to make an impact at the World Cup. And with patriotic boots like these, they'll probably stand out on the pitch.
