Android is the predominant mobile platform choice in Asia-Pacific, making up an average of 71% of total impressions, according to Millennial Media.

The company's latest most recent Mobile Mix report for the region shows that the top three countries with an above average number of impressions from Android devices would be India (86%), Malaysia (75%), and Hong Kong (81%).

The report analyses data collected over tens of billions of monthly ad requests from across thousands of mobile ad campaigns.

Ranked second would be Apple’s iOS platform, which sits at 28% of impressions, with Australia (56%), Thailand (41%) and Japan (34%) reporting above-average number of impressions here.

Countries like Indonesia and the Philippines see below average impressions from both Android and iOS, but show almost nine times more impressions from BlackBerry devices than their neighboring countries.

Other highlights of the Mobile Mix Asia-Pacific Report include:

  • 65% of the population in APAC owns a mobile phone, but only 23% own a smartphone.
  • The top three countries with the highest number of impressions are India (15%), Indonesia (14.87%), and Japan (11.62%).
  • Despite having lower smartphone adoption than other regions, the substantial population of China and India drives higher numbers of mobile and smartphone users.
