The total number of active users of enterprise mobile collaboration is estimated to be 1.12 million in 2013 and forecast to grow at a CAGR of 21.4% through 2018, according to Frost & Sullivan.

The consultancy firm said in a new report the growing mobile and remote workforce is pushing enterprises across Asia Pacific to adopt comprehensive mobile collaboration services.

The study covers mobile email, voice, messaging, and conferencing solutions of which mobile voice, messaging, and conferencing represent key growth areas.

Currently, the adoption of mobile collaboration services hosted in public/hybrid cloud environments is low among the price-sensitive, large enterprises in Asia Pacific that already have premises-based ICT infrastructure.

“However, cloud-based enterprise mobile collaboration services will soon gain traction due to the improved security and lower upfront investment requirement,” said Jessie Yu, ICT industry manager at Frost & Sullivan.

“Many organizations have started adopting hybrid mobile UC collaboration solutions – keeping the core UC infrastructure on premise and moving other UC applications such as IM/presence and conferencing to the cloud,” added Yu.

The market will also begin to favor integrated mobile communication applications over standalone solutions as they bring cost savings and considerably enhance user experience.

Integrated services including IM/presence, unified messaging, audio, video, and web conferencing are expected to become especially popular in the small-to-medium-sized business (SMB) segment.
