Rod Cambridge launched an app call Top-Tens, which tracks the top-10 rankings for everything from books and moves to computer viruses and online deals.

Selling several thousand downloads for $1.99 made his part-time venture moderately successful, and it even made it to the No. 8 spot in the App Store's reference category.

But, according to the Wall Street Journal, it was more work than the London securities specialist was willing to put in. Keeping it near the top required constant new features and marketing so he decided to do the obvious - he put his app on eBay.
Cambridge is finding it a hard sell.

He received 71 bids were, with the highest at $8,350 pounds, but that was crank.

He's in negotiations with the second high bidder but now must also determine if it's possible to switch ownership of an app through Apple.
