(Korea Times via NewsEdge) South Korea's multi-purpose satellite Arirang-2 is trying to provide better information on Dokdo by taking precision airborne pictures of the country's easternmost islets, which are also being claimed by Japan.

"Japan already has the ability to take high-definition satellite pictures of Dokdo but so far we have not. Now things will be different thanks to Arirang-2," Korea Aerospace Research Institute director Lee Joo-jin said.

Lee said the Arirang-2 would be able to take better images of Dokdo late this month when the 800kg satellite starts working full time.
