Thailand's CAT Telecom and Dtac subsidiary Dtac TriNet are finalizing the terms of an agreement covering a network joint venture.

State-owned CAT and private operator Dtac TriNet are expected to sign an MoU covering the collaboration on Monday, the Nationreported.

Under the proposed arrangement, the companies will collaborate on Dtac's network infrastructure using CAT's concession. The terms and model for the agreement have yet to be detemined.

Dtac TriNet has a license to operate 3G services using the 2.1-GHz band, and plans to expand its network nationwide, with a particular focus on 4G. The company is eager to access parent company Dtac's network under CAT's concession to fulfil its expansion plans.

Dtac recently contracted Ericsson to provide equipment for a 4G rollout in several cities. The company has committed a combined 10 billion baht ($305.2 million) towards expanding both its 3G and 4G coverage in Bangkok and 30 other cities.

The operator also recently entered a deal with True Telecommunications Growth Infrastructure Fund to lease around 100 telecom towers to help improve its mobile coverage. The deal is worth 2 million baht this year.
