China Mobile has introduced two Internet of Things (IoT) platforms targeting Chinese enterprises.

At the CES Asia in Shanghai this week, the mobile giant unveiled its IoT Private Network and OneNet Open Platform.

The private network is an business management platform providing Chinese enterprises with networking communication management capabilities, such as access to real-time information and high-quality communication services.

The private network combines statistical analysis and an API interface for enterprises to build hardware and software tools around China Mobile’s offering. China Mobile said the network has already been providing real-time management of nearly 5 million devices.

The OneNet Open Platform is a cloud service and information processing platform connecting terminals and applications. The platform provides IoT enterprises with multiple protocols and access support and can be used to connect smart devices and applications. It also support PaaS cloud services, China Mobile added.

China Mobile also displayed its energy consumption monitoring platform, smart community platform, and communication module for use in industrial applications.

The operator, which reported an over 10% decline in its 2014 net profit, has been looking at new areas - including IoT, mobile healthcare, connected car, mobile education and wearable devices - for new revenue growth.

According to China Mobile, about 43.38 million M2M devices had been connected to the operator’s network.
