Chunghwa Telecom and i-Mei Multimedia e-Content Production & Marketing Company have teamed up to co-develop Taiwan’s first cloud computing-based 3D virtual travel trade show platform due to launch on September 1.

The platform, which will built on Chunghwa Telecom’s broadband network and cloud marketplace, will offer a range of solutions, such as 3D real navigation, 10G hard disk storage space, and 1000 module kit for stakeholders in the tourism industry to create exclusive cloud 3D content for online travel trade show.

Chunghwa Telecom said a number of hotels, local travel agencies, and government organizations have pledged to use the platform, and expected more enterprises to join.

The operator will work with i-Mei Multimedia to roll out cloud solutions for food and cultural creative industries, Chunghwa Telecom said in a statement.

The partnership is Chunghwa Telecom’s latest initiative to tap into the burgeoning cloud computing market. In addition to the cloud-based travel platform, Chunghwa Telecom will also introduce other services including enterprise-cloud, storage-cloud, and logistic-cloud in the second half of the year, in a bid to boost its revenues from cloud services.

Currently there are over 1,600 enterprise customers using Chunghwa Telecom’s hicloud computing as a service (CaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.

The operator is working with more than 70 software developers on its cloud marketplace, which has now more than 6,000 users and over 450 Saas solution available in the marketplace, Chunghwa Telecom added.
